Lamar Little is a native of Chicago, derived from great musical roots - his father was the great Chicago Blues & Jazz Trumpet legend and band leader, King Kolax.
Lamar has been playing drums since he was very young. After playing in Marching Band, Concert Band & Jazz Band at Marshall High School, Chicago, he later attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.
Homebase locations included Memphis and Kansas City—Lamar has toured all over the country with several Metal, Rock, and Blues bands. While a member of the Metal band "Power & Fear" in Kansas City, he opened for the great Robert Plant and other acts like the "Deftones", "Tora Tora", "Reo Speedwagon" and "The Urge". Lamar also played the blues while in Kansas City, sharing the stage with the legends Clarence Carter, Al Green, Bobby Womack and "The Marshall Tucker Band".
Moved west to Las Vegas and it was pure Metal Mania. The Vans Warp Tour with "Columbyne" was followed by performances with "Thought Pollution", "Lazarus Rize" at The House of Blues and a U.S. tour. "Kill Yourself or Die Tryin" was recorded with the band "Parannoyd". Very well received by both the Las Vegas critics and Heavycore, Lamar's style has been referred to as "precise", "powerful" and "thunderous".
After moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Lamar began session work and playing live shows. Starting with a 5 song EP at Interscope Records, Lamar recorded with the rock band Creatures of a Beautiful City and joined them for a California-Nevada tour. With Psycoliscious, Lamar performed a Funk Rock /Hip-Hop style music for live shows in the Los Angeles area. A 6 song Demo album as well as 4 songs for the funk musician, Jeremy Olson rounded out a year full of recordings.
Settling in to the LA music scene, Lamar experienced a variety of music genres. He played African style drums on the Telemundo television show, 12 Corazones. Played with Donnell Jones on his music video "Love Like This". Lamar was the drummer for the theatrical play "Back on the Boards" by Lamar Hoke, Jr.. Lamar performed at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre along the side of American Idol runner-up Lakisha Jones. Late performances in 2010 included appearances with Hip-Hop band, The Lowkeys at the Doesha Cup Festival and brought in the New Year 2011 at the Key Club, opening for the Hip-Hop legends Pharcyde.
2011 has brought a wide variety of opportunities. Live performances include a Southern California high school tour with pop rock act Beverly Kills, a Northern California tour with melodic metal band Black Magic Driver (BMD), and the SXSW Festival in Austin, TX with Rooftop Revolutionaries. Local venues include The Viper Room, The Key Club, and the Troubadour. So far this year, Lamar has recorded albums with Riff Raff, Andrew Soto, Black Magic Driver, and Rooftop Revolutionaries.
